DO YOU WANT TO WORK WITH ME…

“As always, you created an atmosphere that made it easy to trust you and everyone with our thoughts and our writing, to say nothing about the sheer fun of it all! It felt like everyone was able to access a whole level of creativity that they didn’t know they had! I know I did.”- Student

I am passionate about helping people access their creativity from established writers to those who feel stifled by academia or the business world.

For this reason, I’m not interested in dusty booklists or helping someone polish one perfectly boring but stylistically correct poem. What I like best is when my students realize that they are writing pieces that matter to them in their own authentic voice. Every day. And that it can be fun, even if sometimes it involves taking risks. Actually, it always does.

Luckily they come back for more.

At the moment, I am working with a limited number of people for one-to-one mentoring, as well as running individual commissioned workshops. If you are interested in finding out more, then please contact me and we can talk about how best I can help you.

Some themes we could work with include:

  • Creative non-fiction
  • Using place in fiction
  • Developing characters
  • Finishing your novel
  • Starting your novel
  • Kick-starting creativity

In addition, I am currently in the middle of designing my first e-course – Writing Roots – based on using family stories and other archeological finds to find out who your true writing self is. This is in pilot mode at the moment, but was booked out within 24 hours of advertising! Please let me know if you would like to be put on the waiting list for future courses.

You can write to me here: sarahsalway @ gmail.com (but without the spaces!).

For professional queries about my writing, contact my agent, Annette Green Authors’ Agency.

Meet my new book

I'm very pleased to tell you that a limited run of my first poetry collection, YOU DO NOT NEED ANOTHER SELF-HELP BOOK is now available to buy. It won't officially be launched in March, so you can be ahead of the crowds. Ssshhhh...

Here's what some people have said about it:

'Sexy and tragic - my favourite combination.' Rolling Stone magazine critic, Will Hermes

'I come undone when I read her words. Her poetry slays me.' Susannah Conway

'There's a quiet sizzling underneath the surface of these poems, which can make you smile and wince at the same time.' Philip Gross

And you can buy the book here.

  • Meet Sarah

"Sarah Salway is the Madonna of writing books. The dancing one, not the Mother of Jesus one."
    Neil Gaiman
  • Sarah is the Canterbury Laureate, Chair of the Kent & Sussex Poetry Society and Royal Literary Fund Fellow at the LSE. This blog is her writing journal, to be filled with small stories, prompts, and ideas, as well as inspiring people and things.
