Wise Words – and how my camera may know more than I do…

There are some wonderful quotes going up on the Wise Words Public Forum already – you can add your own here and please do! It looks like being an inspiring collection that I know I’ll come back to time and time again.

The quote I’ve added is my favourite from Anais Nin: “And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom”

I’ve illustrated that with a photograph (taken at Westgate Gardens, Canterbury) deliberately because when I was looking through my photographs the other day, I realised that the images I’ve been ‘catching’ actually mirror and pre-date many of the creative steps I’ve taken recently. I don’t know if this is because my instinct (and eye) is forming before I am ready to voice the intention OR if the photographs have helped to strengthen my imagination muscle.

Such as, a desire to match consumer brands with nature:

And finding (and leaving) my words in the unlikeliest places:

And changing signs so they make you look (and think) again:

The strange thing is that these are all things I’m working on now, but those photographs above were all taken at least two years ago. I don’t want to analyse this too much because either way, it’s a bit like this…

This is normally the role I’ve given to my writing journal, so it’s wonderful to realise I have another tool for internal ‘Wise Words’ too – my camera. I LOVE the idea that it may know more than I do…

xx
